Hi all again, First i want to thank all of those wom help out on the last posts. I have this problem with the wipers. When I start the Bus cold and the air comes up the wipers work, after driving 20 minutes to an hour the ai wipers quit working. I have plenty of air on the gauge. I twist the controls and nothing. If I shut the bus of and go and come back in an hour they or may not work again. There must be some solonoid getting hot some place.

John,

The original air wipers in the coaches are not good. Usually the problems come from the series of rubber bushings, seals, etc... that are inside of the cast metal windshield wiper housings. The rubber can expand & contract depending on a wide variety of variables: temperature, humidity, age of the rubber, etc....causing the wipers to act irradically to say the least. Slapping, slamming, hissing, etc..... Very little can be done, besides replacing the wipers. Let me know, I have a couple of options. The oil as TwoDogs has mentioned, could help, but probably not a long time fix.

Auto trans fluid on some rubber parts or seals will destroy some types. Like most floor and bottle jacks trans fluid is bad and on only a very few it is ok.
I would guess it just wore out.
Air wipers suck go with the electric if you can.

If your 01 Eagle is the same as my 05 eagle...the control is to the right of the steering wheel...those switches go bad occasionally...I LOVE air wipers...but...30 years without any maintenance,yep...ya' might have some trouble...I would NEVER change to electric...can't imagine somebody telling you they aren't any good...I love air brakes TOO....

You should be able to buy very inexpensive soft parts kits for the air wiper motors (and switches). Air wipers in good condition are great. Worn out ones "suck" as Brian says.

Air wipers can be slowed down to a crawl for mist/drizzle and they can be fitted with delay controls as my Eagle has.

I think that there is some other control that supplies are to the wiper controls. this is what I ment. If there is know air then both wiper will not work. Is there such a control, manifold with a solonoid os somthing similar that supplies bothe wipers?

We carry a really nice electric wiper kit. No air problems. Smooth as silk. We tested them with Greyhound, Coach USA, etc.....We did all the hard work in research & development. Easy to install 12v or 24v kits. If you have been to the Rickreall or the Arcadia Rallies you have seen our wiper kit in operation. Rickreall guys, give me a call if you want the discounted kits. Let me know if you have any questions.
