We're going out to get some stuff for the coach next week. Are there any outfit's you would recommend? David |

I have a list that was posted by Scott Whitney on 02-02-04 on the MAK board. If you can get in contact with Scott he might be able to re-post. Not all were Elkhart but I think all were from that area. HTH Ed. |

Just go to RV Surplus at 1400 W. Bristol Street in Elkhart. Talk to Trina (she's the owner). They will have everything you could ever want or need. We downloaded the list last April and took a ride out. We went to several places, and ended up getting everything at RV Surplus. The more you buy, the better deals she gives you. Their phone number is 574-264-5575 just in case you need it. Make sure you go during the week, as most of them are closed on the weekends (or at least close by noon Sat. and completely on Sunday.) |

I agree with Ed. We built our bus from RV Surplus. We've shopped them all, Trina is far and away the best |

I went to RV Surpus last spring. Unless you needed an obscure used part, a tank, or a door/window, most of the stuff was priced pretty high. Appliances like water heaters, air conditioners, and frigs can be sourced cheaper elsewhere. Lots of good vendors on Ebay. You pay shipping, but you pay sales tax at RV Surplus. Brontrager's RV surplus is north of Elkhart up in Michigan. The places is like an RV junkyard, but you should be able to get a good price if you can find an tem you need. Brian Elfert |

We got back today, and managed to get a set of water tanks and a black tank that will work somehow. Brontrager's had a couple of propane slides and we managed to score one for $20, nice piece. I plan on taking out the tank in the bus now and replacing with two 30# bottles. We were also looking for a shower pan and didn't find anything that fit in our current plan, oh well maybe we're just change the plan to fit what's around. RV surplus, had alot of little stuff, but you better know what your looking for, we did pick up some 12 volt light's, and they had some good 12 volt light fixture, UL listed and not made in China, price wasn't the best, but cheaper then retail. Brontrager's had some nice flex steel stuff and very good prices as compared to the other outlets. Anyway, it was a good trip and we got alot of stuff for the unit. And a little advice know the prices of stuff before you go, otherwise how will you know a deal or not. later David |
