Call Gene Rochester. If anyone can help with a race truck it's him! He used to race them too and he knows electronics like his own name! 864/888-8578 Tell him his buddy from Florida sent you! I promise he won't hang up when you do! Ace |

What wires do you want to trace?? The only signal DDEC usually looks for is the VSS. Let me know, I'd be happy to try to help you. Sammy |

Keith, DDDEC II looks at a number of things. Each generation DDEC monitors more parameters. You really need the DDEC Installation and Troubleshooting manuals. They are frequently on eBay in paper or CD format for a small price. The DD Series 60 didn't come out until DDEC III. I would be surprised if it had version II unless someone has tinkered with the engine. You will also need a scanner. Without it or manuals you will be shooting in the dark. Good luck. Have you considered going to a truck salvager and buying a used DDEC ECM? They are not as expensive as buying a reader, manuals, etc only to find that your ECM has been reprogrammed for additional performance and the reader cannot interpret the alterations. A stock correct year ECM from a manual trans tractor may work on your unit without any mods...permanently. I suppose this depends on what engine components have been modified by race truck guys? Much more fuel, turbo parameters, RPM, exhaust temp, injection timing... May be able to remove your ECM and see what a DDEC dealer can see. May have a glitch...probably an induced glitch. Considering that an Allison comunicates with a DDEC unit for road speed (VSS), load vs throttle position vs gear selection, and shutdown codes (overheat), the ECM may be looking for trans data that is causing a limp-mode run condition. Your ECM may be working, and some other gremlin or odd tuning is affecting your performance. As someone has suggested, a call to the racetruck guys may be enlightening. |

hi thanks for the help so far .just been to the racetruck and the cables i need to identify are 217, d505,(d509a,d419 i think these two are for the warning lights) (dop, d68 these two cables are with the cooling module connector block)and there is a orange wire that goes to the injectors? that is not marked .we have a code reader but no faults showing .the exhaust is a 90 bend and 4 foot of pipe to the floor and the turbo is a schwitzer sd400 making 45 to 60lb boost the engine is still in a racetruck .we area british racing team thanks in advance |

Keith, Could your 217 wire possibly be a 417 wire? If so, the 417 wire is the TPS signal to DDEC.It goes from the TPS connector(B) to D-2 on the 30 pin vehicle harness connector. It's a dark blue wire. The Orange wire could be wire 472 - from cavity R3 of the 30 pin engine harness to the fuel temp sensor - pin B. I recommend using the ECM from the trans "donor engine".The parameters will probably be more like what your looking for. Best of luck with the "hot rod". Sammy |
