Greetings fellow busnuts. Since I’ll likely be too busy tomorrow to post, I wanted to jump in here early and extend a gracious and warm THANK YOU to any and all men and women that served their nation during times of war or peace (and that goes for you fearless Canuks, as well). Words cannot express… Thankfully, I've never had to go into combat, and never served, but have the warmest regard for those that have. So, I vowed last year to volunteer in some way to help veterans tell their stories to their loved ones and the population in general by contributing to the US Library of Congress Veterans History Project. I’m using the skills I learned in editing my home videos to add photos, graphics, etc. to enliven the stories. I filmed and am currently editing a piece for this wonderful local gentleman that served in WWII. In light of the holiday tomorrow, if you want to see some snippets (and have a broadband connection), you can go here: http://www.brownland.org/veterans05/ There’s three ~8 minute highlights there. Hopefully, it’s not too boring to watch. Personally, I could listen to Vet’s talk all day about their experiences. We’re hosting my dad-in-law and his wife for the holiday tomorrow and all weekend… they’re coming up from NM. He’s a Vietnam Vet (11th Armored Cav. “Black Horse” Platoon Leader ’68), and the whole family will attend a local parade and luncheon in honor of local vets. I’m hoping to get him in front of the camera, as well. Again, thanks Vets! Brian Brown Longmont, CO USA |
