The local paper this morning has a photo of a semi full of stuff, calling it the last of 9 trucks, carrying the Eagle bus manufacturing equipment back from Mexico. For those not acquainted with the past of the many times orphaned bus, they were made in Brussels Belgium initially, then moved to Brownsville TX and made buses here from 1975 to 1998 and went bankrupt (nobody wanted them!) They were bought by a Mexican company and were bankrupt again in 2003 (nobody wanted them!). The new owner of "The Silver Eagle Bus Manufacturing INC", Craig Hanloh from Nahsville TN, is dumping the stuff in a field, and has ambitions of building a new plant and turning out the first bus in March. Inquiring minds want to know, will anybody want them? PS, They are now building Taylorcraft airplanes in Brownsville TX. |

Dumping the equipment in a field? Isn't that going to subject the equipment to the famous Eagle RUST? That would spell the end, for sure... |

Maybe it takes rusty jigs to built rusty buses. Kind like a biscuit mix starter? |

Nobody wants Taylorcraft either, since they have gone through about 5 owners, and four different factories in the past. Narrow main gear, very limited visiblity through tiny windows, drafty, exhaust angle creates excessive cockpit noise, ingress/egress is difficult... I could go on, and probably do the same exercise about the Eagles as well. ...JJ |

De Havilland DHC-3 Otter w/ P&W R1340 power. :-) (OK so the Aeronca 7AC Champ with the Continential squirrel cage contributed something to my tail dragger time.) |

I wish the Air Bust pilot that tore the tail off stromping on the ruder after TO from JFK had kept HIS feet on the floor! The tails of Air Bust's fall off easily enough with NO help! FAST FRED |
