Hi, I still can not believe we just got back from purchasing our second 4106. She is a 1963 model VIN: PD4106-1595. We know very little about this bus; except that the coach sat for two years. It was previously own by a gospel group out of Eutawville SC. The group dismembered, and the bus has been parked since then. Any additional history on her would be welcome. My better half and I decided that we could not walk away from this old bus. We have not decided on what to do with this additional coach, so we ask for any suggestions. We have considered reselling the bus as she is, or use her as a parts bus. Are there buses really worth more when parted out? What’s the going rate for scrap aluminum? We plan to return to SC in two weeks with two brand new batteries, fuel filters, a tire, fuel conditioner, etc. We expect the engine to start on the first or second try and plan to drive her home to Snellville GA, some two hundred plus miles under her own power. " What's saddening, is that not one of them are around to say a prayer for the buyer. Mine came from a church op. I found that his system of "preventive maintenance" was saying a prayer prior to a trip. I wish you many miles of smiles! |

When I first read the post the first thing that popped into my head was John MC "the hammer" 9 is gonna ask who dismembered those poor folks. My wife wants her own bus. These 2 bus families are making me nervous.Good luck with the new coach glad you could save her. Seems alot of 04's that do a repower need the 06 rear differential and there is a big market for that manual tranny.... |

The illness is chronic and probably genetic and no doubt passes to the next generation. It's funny how our knick-knacks seem to be 30 to 45 feet long, 8 feet or more wide and won't fit on any shelf other than the continental one. Whatever happened to collecting model airplanes? |

Mark & Michele, It's hard to walk away from a bus that is being neglected and needs a home. At least for this busnut crowd. We have two at home as well an 06 that has been with us many years and an eagle 15. Good luck getting her home. Godspeed, Michael |

Welcome to "Busnut anonymous". We meet daily, 24/7/365. "Hello, my name is John, and I own a retired bus" (group, in unison) "Hello John" I'd start the 12 step program, but since I got the bus, I've been too tired to walk. |

Hope you didn't pay much for the second bus. Two big strikes against it are that it sat for two years in the SE United States (two cylinders of that 8V probably have rusted walls if the intake and exhaust weren't capped tight) and that a church group owned it. Before you take it on the road, do everyone a favor and have a mechanic inspect every part of the air system (brakes and suspension at the very least) to make certain you can bring it to a stop and not lose control. |

I'm feelig a little inferior I only have one bus. You guys have 2,3,7 buses and a wife! I certainly have the room for them in 15+ acres. Just have not been lucky to find an unloved machine or woman that needs a new home. Maybe I dont have the sickness yet. Anyone have a bus or woman that needs a new home? Better yet, a woman with her own bus. She'll certainly get the royal treatment. I better stop here. |

"Better yet, a woman with her own bus." WOW! Ya' talk about being on the road to ruin... It's like asking for a free visit with Dr. Kevorkian.. There are plenty of less painful ways of doing yourself in, ya'know.... |

I gave up on dogs, too many steps in the slippery and smelly stuff for me, Now I have 2 buses. Still slippery but smell great! Lets see, 2 buses, 40 foot container, Isuzu truck, 2 vans, car, diesel tractor, riding mower, 9,000 lb fork lift, 4 trailers and more stuff than I can possibly play with at any one time. No wonder I am broke.... My wife has put up with me for 27 years so far. I wonder how much more she will put up with? |
