I've copied Dave Galey's One Piece Door article at http://www.freewebs.com/aluminumasylum/onepieceeagledoor.htm This is a copyrighted article so if I get into trouble I will pull it. Perhaps Ian can get it put into his "Articles" preferably with the pictures which I didn't know enough at the time on how to save. Hope this helps. And to those of you who think you may need it... COPY IT TO A DISK AND SAVE IT!!! I don't know if and how long I can keep it posted. Lorna |

How do you pull a post? To my knowledge it can not be edited after about 30 minutes of posting and I feel certain that Dave will appreciate your posting his copyrighted material here. Richard |

Lorna, I understand your sentiment and reasonable approach, at the same time, to prevent it from getting out of hand, I have to comment that it's like justifying shop-lifting candy because there's still 90 out of a hundred in the box and nobody will miss just one! The reason people go to the trouble to put tasks into print that you can't find anyplace else on the Internet is that very "copyright" thing you mention. Like a patent, writers and inventors go to alot of trouble, expense and effort developing ideas and processes because they know the law will protect them for a limited period of time so they can recoup their costs and be compensated for their trouble and effort. Society, as a whole, is cheated by not respecting these rights. Without this protection, people won't expend the effort to invent or to write. More importantly, leaving it on this site would expose Ian to the same liability. He'll have to remove your link. I'm sure you could, more or less, duplicate what Dave has written in your own words, adding a helpful hint, improvment (or three) that you discovered while making your own door. See, it's okay! to give away your OWN labor, (which is in the spirit of these Bus BBS) but not okay to "give away" the labor of someone else! In closing, Dave is kinda in the middle, as he sells books but has a Chapter at a time of the Bus Converter's Bible posted on this site. I guess the best (and legal)thing to do is to recommend your friends and contacts to download the chapter for personal use as it comes by, monthly, "on the wheel" as this is a "fair use" of copyrighted material. Republishing it isn't "fair use", regardless if posted for free or in conjunction with a commercial endeavor. |

I see the article no longer appears on Zane Good's web site, www.rv-coach.com. I will write to Dave Galey today and ask permission to reproduce the article. I'll let you know. Ian www.busnut.com |

Thanks Ian. I really hate putting it on the internet because it is copyrighted. But I really don't understand why it dissappeared in the first place. The info is in none of his books. I really thought it would end up here. I have been sending out 2 or 3 versions (Notepad, Word & Works) via e-mails atleast 4 or 5 times a year. This is a bit hard to do when I'm in one state and my computer is in another state. Luckily I did save it to a CD but I have been using someone else's computer for over a year now and do not always have the article handy. This is the first time since Oct 2004 that I have actually had my computer and that's only because David & I are in Panama City Beach working for "a couple of weeks" (which means anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months). I refuse to be computerless and I was hoping that I could get a better connection to the internet (Franklin phone # connects so poorly that I get dropped alot). As soon as it shows up on the Busnut site, I will remove it from my website. Hope you can get the pic's that go with the article too. |

Lorna, I do not think that because it does not appear anywhere that you are familiar with gives you the right and privilege to post it on a public bulletin board and then encourage users to copy it for further use. I can assure you that if it was my intellectual property my attorney would already be on your case, hoping that both you and I@N would have deep pockets. Richard |

Hi Lorna, I now have Dave's permission to reproduce this article online and I will post it very soon. Of interest, Dave wrote to me that this article is a chapter in the second edition printing of his "The Bus Converter's Bible" which is now shipping when a copy is purchased online from this web site. Thanks for asking! It was a great idea from which many will benefit. Ian www.busnut.com |

Ian, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! It would have been nice if it were in the first printing (the one we've bought), but having in your Articles should only increase the sales of his book. The disappearance of the door article is a good example of of the impermance of the internet. I have often hear that once something is on the internet it never disappears. That is obviously not true. Dispite what some have posted on the thread. If you find information that you will need a few days or a few months down the road, you had better copy & save it. Better yet, if it is in a book, buy the book. That way you will have it along with any supporting material you may need. Lorna PS. I will pull the webpage beginning of next week when I get back (am leaving to go out of town). |
