I saw a neat thing at the RV show last week, on a top end RV there were cameras mounted on the bottom of the arm of the rear view mirrows! I did not drive it, but sitting inside that was really nice.
My question is, has anyone searched the market for rear view stuff, color only, that perhaps used an LCD screen and four cameras (one inside looking back inside, two on mirrors, one on the rear) either in do it yourself pieces or a kit?

Don, Home Depot has a four camera system, with a split screen monitor. I slowed down today to look at it. Sorry, didn't catch the price. ...JJ

Cameras are cheap. I have 3 cams on my bus paid $80, $29 and $20 each. What cost most is the 17" LCD monitor. Used a manual switch for each cam even though my LCD has PIP (picture in picture).

PS

The cheapest cams seem to work best and have best picture.

I have to agree with James the cheaper the camera set up seem to give you a clearer picture. I have a 149.00 infared system at the office that out performs the 1800.00 security camera system running along side the cheap system. The cheap system is clearer and better in the dark.

afrter working in the glass biz most of my life .I've come up with a cam that fits on the inside the rear view mirrows, now i'm playing with a remote control that use to be a morror mount and removed the mirror and removed a 3/4 dia clear spot in the surface, and mounted the cam behind it so it would be weather proof. think it may work haven't hooked it up yet been to busy. any ideas ?

Sounds like something to be patented to me. This would be in great demand on the high end motorhomes I bet.

"removed the mirror and removed a 3/4 dia clear spot in the surface"

Rain always did a number on the side mirrors, I wonder just
how well a 3/4" spot in the middle will fare among the raindrops..

Possibly one reason the rear mounted cams have a shield over
the top and sides?

Our 94 DL has cameras mounted behind oneway mirrors. Are mounted to mirror remote control mechanism and move with mirror. Works great! They were installed in 1995 so not anything new. PS The mirror gless is mounted with industrisl velcro.
