I don't think Gary is going to tell us how his latest bus acquisition travels went, unless we beg him for details. Anybody want to hear about it? |

Don you're brat!! 'nuther blown engine. Lost a cylinder liner. Oil + water in crankcase at 60mph suddenly and without warning = instant dead engine Don't think I'm gonna try to buy any more busses from Texas. Nice people there but texan busses seem to blow up a lot on me... Damn.... |

I kept trying to tell him, you don't buy buses down here, you buy them up north and bring them down here to resell. They go across the border by the dozens here. |

Reminds me of the two terrorist mothers bragging about their sons. Said one to the other, "My goodness, don't kids blow up fast these days?" |

I figure that now I've had two dogs, I'm over it now and can finally go on with life... NO DON, I DO NOT want that bus in Harlingen...!!! (I bet the Texan border patrol sniffing dogs would have a blast with that one...) Hee hee G |

So, does this mean you've tried to drive TWO buses home, and both blew up on you? Dude, please stay away from mine! |

Yep, one made it from McAllen TX to just west of San Antonio. Bought another one there and it made it to New Mexico. Problem is, he lives in San Diego! |

I'll try this one more time. Then if it goes bad I'll stick to my Crown which has taken me 25 thousand flawless miles. Both engine blow ups were unavoidable and due to internal badness that no-one could/would have seen. Just really BAD luck. I did my homework as I should have but it just didn't turn out. When I get one home someday I'll post a pic of me celebrating... meanwhile it's tail between legs days for me... G |

Gary, It's all that rushing around that gets you into trouble. You get in a rush to get home and the gremlin gets you every time. I am amazed that you couldn't find what you wanted locally instead of a few states away.. |

What happens here in So. Cal is everything goes to Mexico and for high prices. Example: Check this bus out- ebay item 4605506592 ... a nice bus located 30 miles away from me that sold for $5600 Now go look at item # 4585874690 ... It's almost the same bus!! The guy (who is the seller in the above bus) bought it in Wisconsin for $1475, brought it here and will probably make over 4 grand in less than a month!!! Everything near me or even semi close to me is way overpriced because of Mexico, and there's little if anything to choose from. Plus the school districts here don't sell their busses, they auction them and you have to be "in" or you won't get far. Also I need one with a turbo. Because we are at sea level and have no mountains, none of the busses around here have turbos either. So unfortunately it's find one far away or not at all... Stay tuned... more is brewing.... |

He is out picking up his latest, a Cummins powered Blue Bird flat nose from Utah! Will this bus boy NEVER stop buying buses? Anybody want to take bets if he will make it home this time? |

Hey, it got 200 miles closer!! A friend picked it up for me and took it to his house. I'll be bringing it home next weekend. So far so good, it's reported to be perfect, sweet running, 10-12mpg, sounds great, all gauges work and are in normal ranges,etc... and it even has built in road sanders!!! (anyone know what those are?) The ONLY thing I dont' like about it is that it has an Allison 545 and my buddie says going down grades the engine drops to 1100 rpm and there is virtually zero holdback, as these transmissions are notorious for. I've been researching around, and for $500 I can get a BR torque converter that has an entirely different curve than the stock Allison, that is said to pretty much cure this problem, give you 4-6 more MPH at top speed, improve acceleration. Anyone have experience with these? Almost sounds too good to be true but there's a lot of info out there that says it is... Meanwhile I just got back from AZ. with an autoshift in my back seat. Man is it big. So the game of sticking it in and making it work with a MUI engine is officially "on" THANK YOU JIM!!!!! Cheers |

I understood road sanders are a traction aide. In icy conditions it drops sand in front of the drivers. |

Huh! I thought road sanders were to make sure you had a smooth ride on a smooth road, live and learn. |
