every thing went fine on this first trip. but I think I have too low of a gear in my differential.
it was replaced by the previous owner but I run about 2000 rpm at 65 mph and 2200 at 70 mph. of course I'm not sure the speedo is acurate. feels like I'm going faster. what should the rpms be at those speeds with the set up I have? tranny and motor.
I tried to pick up my tag axle and just got a bell ringing. any info on operation and use would be helpful.
I over filled the engine oil last week and it hasn't went down any. will it hurt to be over filled?
wind shields leak pretty bad at top. should I have the rubbers replaced or just caulk?
I have a fuel gauge on this bus. when it's on E how much fuel do I actualy have? I suposedly have a 144 gal tank but only took on 111 gallons from empty.

"I'm not sure the speedo is acurate. feels like I'm going faster"
Pick up a used GPS device, and get the right speed.

"pick up my tag axle and just got a bell ringing"
Normal, and of intent.

"I over filled the engine oil last week and it hasn't went down
any. will it hurt to be over filled?"

Yeah, but by how much? Two quarts may not matter matter.
A gallon will.

"windshields leak pretty bad at top. should I have the

Use silicone, or better....butyle!

"I have a fuel gauge on this bus. when it's on E how

Dionne Warwick.... where are you when we need you?

That switch only dumps the air, it dosent lift the tag.
By dumping the air ,it puts more weight on the drive axle to get you out of the snow.lol

Your fuel gauge is right where it should be. You shouldn't be running with less than 30 gallons in the tank. Any lean of the bus causes all the fuel to run to one end of the tank.

Ron-

Before you add caulk, butyl, or whatever, to the windshield
gasket, try caulking/sealing the rain gutter above the windshield,
and the front marker lights. The windshield gasket usually
doesn't leak, but the markers and the screws for the gutter, do.

it's the wind shield. the whole inside is exposed so I can see where it's coming from.

Unless you plan on removing the glass its easier to use Black butyl caulk for the windshield, with a beauty gasket if necessary - that stuff is sticky and hard to sculpt into something that looks cosmetically acceptable - If you plan on removing them in the near future just tape them or something temporary until you get the correct gasket, cause that stuff can be a pain to clean off - JMTC - Niles

I don't mean to belabor the point of leaking front clearance lights, but I'd check them. I thought my windshields were leaking from the top, sides, and bottom. After a tube of polyurethane between the glass and (new) rubber gaskets, I still had leaks. One leak was over a cup in a couple of hours. When I pulled the front inside cap, I found lots of wet fiberglass, surface rust, and trails of water leading to and under the windshield gaskets. It must be common, at least on my MC-8, as I had about 7 leaking lights. If not, are the windshield gaskets new or old and dried? After sealing the lights and windshields, I have no leaks at all. Good luck.

On my 8v at those speeds RPM is 1800 and 2100 respectivaly with 5 speed Allison. The other thing to do is time between the mile markers on the interstate as you drive. If your time between 1 mile marker to another is 1 minute, then you are doing 60 MPH. Kind of a pain and helps if someone else is along while you concentrate on keeping a constant speed but is free to do. Then just record the speed on the speedo for 60 MPH.

Good luck with the windshield leak. Check the steel above and below the windhield. May be badly rusted. Did your coach have a destination sign in the front cap earlier in its life? They'll leak and damage the steel windshield header (it ain't stainless)...so will clearance lights leaking as has been mentioned. Rust in the center of the dash indicates a long term leak problem.
I've replaced the windshield gaskets on my coach and it still leaks. Not much, but it leaks. Leaks enough to keep me from adding nice looking dash cover. I'm told that MC9 (and 8s) windshields just leak ...what about other MCI owners?
If your getting 6 MPG, that's it. That's about what a 40' automatic coach gets. They are hungry.
Watch the gas guage, you'll run out of fuel on long RH sweeping curves, as well as parking with the street-side low. Get you a stick so you can verify the fuel level mechanically. I refuel after about 400 miles. Won't run out of gas that way.
