Took the 8 out for a drive the other day, I stopped along the road to check things out. When I was going to leave my brakes would not release, After quite a few tries, the usual tries to release them I was able to proceed on, but I keep thinking some day they will not release and then what out along the road and raining or even worse snowing. Any suggestions.

If you are following the correct procedure to release the DD3 park brake, then check the pressure regulator (for correct pressure outlet pressure) and the inversion valve for proper operation. If the pressure is too high the full pedal application will not move the brake rod enough to let it release and if the pressure is too low the inversion valve will not operate.

To release the parking brake, you're pressing in the
brake release button, then making a full (to the floor)
press on the brake pedal and holding it down for a few
seconds, right?

If your air pressure was lower when you tried to release the brakes, than when you set them, they may not release. I depress the service brake all the way, and then push the park brake off.
The park brake can be released and then depress the service brake all the way also should relese the brakes. This is how DD3 chambers work. Someone may add to the method, but, still if the air pressure is not at least where it was when the park brake was set, the park brakes may not release. May be a problem with one of the drive axle chambers too. You can look at the slack adjusters and see which ones are released. May have one wheel hanging up. Use the service brake to lower the air pressure so the compressor will pump back up to 120...then try again. If that doesn't work, the brakes should be checked.
Good Luck, JR

Bill,
If the drums and shoes are worn, you may have an S cam getting ready to turn over. Sometimes they will hang up on top causing a situation like what you discribed, That is assuming that air was getting applied to the axle to release.

Another good point from Michael.

Forgot to mention about possible hang-up.

If you’re not sure of your brake condition....is good idea to have it check via bus charter or HD truck pro.

If near Berlin NJ call US Coach for Luke. http://www.scenicruiser.com/uscoach_gallery(052305).htm
