You will lose 3-4 mph and won't have the load capacity of the 12-22.5's. They are not a good choice for a bus. --Geoff '82 RTS AZ |

Leon, Do you know how old the tires are? If the tires on HIS bus are 3 years old or older don't waste your time and money. This has been hashed out before on BNO. The tires are not used enough and they dry out causing a dangerous gamble as to when they will blow out. 5 years is about all you want on a tire that will only see 8K to 10K miles a year. You might gamble and be fairly safe on the back axle, but never put a used tire or a recap on the steering axle. I wouldn't put a used tire on the front unless I knew for sure it's age and mileage. According to Mallie's calculator you will loose around 2 MPH between a 11/22.5 & 12/22.5, but the load rating is also lower as Geoff pointed out. FWIW, Dale |

I agree 100% with Geoff and Dale on this! The only advantage to going 11/22.5 is that they are readily available anywhere but it's not worth it unless you know yer gonna be under the load range always & if ya get them new or "like new" from someone that can prove how old they are! I'd say stay with the 12's. Bryce aka Busted Knuckle |
