The door on my 4905 dosen't seem to close that well. When in a bitof a cross wind it makes the most terrible squeaking and popping noise. Any suggestions for a better seal or a different means of latching it. It still has the origional closer. Thanks, Kevin |

If adjusting the door tighter don;t work take a bar of soap and rub it onto the rubber seals and see if that solves the problem. John F. |

The procedure for adjusting the door closing mechanism is located in the "Body" section of the shop manual. There is a turnbuckle under the dash you adjust. You have to open the emergency equipment door and remove the panel over the front heater core to access. New door seals (which your coach probably needs, most do. . .) are available from Luke: 1-888-262-2434. Call between 9-5 Eastern, M-F. HTH, RJ PD4106-2784 Fresno CA |

If you stick your pinkies up under the dash to work on it, just be VERY SURE your have the door blocked. There are several severe pinch points under there and if the door moves just a little bit in the wrong direction, you could quite readily lose a finger or two. Besides needing seals, your door could be warped just a bit. Not too uncommon, and usually due to past incursions with a curb, or automobile. Cheers...JJ |

Also, have you greased the hinges? The bottom hinge is outside the bus, and has a grease fitting pointing down. The first time you get too close to a curb, the greaser is gone and you have to replace it. |

Thanks for the info guys! I have noticed as the coach shakes a little you can see the door gapping at the bottom corner (opposite the hinge side). I guess that would be a result of all the above listed problems. How hard is it to obtain and replace the whole door? I assume that's what one would do in the event of a warped door? |

Straighten the door. It most likely didn't have a gap like that when new, so something caused it. A replacement door would have to be massaged to fit, might as well spend your time and $$ on massaging this one! If you don't know how to approach this, get a metal fabricator or body man for a resource |

What most coach operators do is to create a taperedgasket that seals the gap. Have seen them an inch & a half wide attached to bottom of door. Works just fine, FAST FRED |

Speaking of "massaging" a door to fit, does anyone have suggestions on how to find someone who has body experience with buses? Either general thoughts or those specific to the Bay Area would be great. |

David - Across the Bay Bridge in Alameda: Coach Specialties, Inc. 2301 Monarch Street. 510-749-1398 Since there's a plethora of charter bus companies in and around The City, let your fingers do the walkin', and call several, asking for the maintenance dept. When you get someone on the line, ask them where they get their body work done if they don't do it "inhouse". If you keep hearing the same company name, that should tell you something. If worse comes to worse, you could always call Muni! (Sorry, couldn't resist. . .LOL) RJ PD4106-2784 Fresno CA |
