i hear a lot of folks are looking at veggie oil for fuel. i was thinking about the old AC compressor and turning it into a steam engine. The fuel source is good and cheep and a small boiler would work out and the power to run a small alternator to charge battery's would work and there real Quiet. I'm sure there are a few bugs to work out but with all our Knowledge of how things work it just might. I worked in a machine shop long ago and the guy i worked with had a AC compressor working on steam with a little modification. IF IT TOOK 25 Hp to run it then it might give 15 in Hp back mm mm now thats cool. just a thought

Good Idea.. Have you updated you license for live-steam boilers lately.

Ouch!:-)

Lets see, Fuel, Flame, Boiler, Pressure, stuck valve and BOOM !

But on the other hand steam engines are very efficient.

Take that one step further, Use a Stirling Engine powered by steam. Now were' cookin....Real efficiency in a small package.

Iv'e been waiting to see these happen here...

Yeah and while yose was boiling water for steam yose could also heat water for showers, dishwashing, etc! Now there is a possibility! Think we got anyone in the crowd who could design such a get up?

And you would not need a transmission either!

Gets bad when the echo starts in here :-)

And no, I don't know the price of the whispergen system. It's been tiddling around europe for a couple of years now but nobody has said a price.

It's kinda like the guys that demo'd the RV version of the Fuel Cell system a while back. Ran on LP gas and was the size of a generator pack. Made hot water, fresh water and electricity to charge batteries and run an inverter.

Where is this stuff????

Maybe it is just meant to attract investors as the cost is far from market ready, as unfortunelty the products often are. Happens at the end of so many of these magical dohickys, unfortunatley! Often when I do finally get the price, I discover why it is so well hidden. Still I do remember my first calculator back in 1972 made by sharp, cost almost $90 and the 8 AA batteries lasted about 4 hours. only did the very basic math calculations.
All good thing eventual end up in the garbage and from there come to me and my price range, signnnnnnnnnnn.

Very impressive, 1000 watts per unit and running on highly explosive propane....I'd only need 5 or 6 units to power my coach.....HHHMMMMM...I think I'll pass.

Ed,

Man, Uh.. what do you think that diesel runs on?

Controlled Explosions aka Fuel-Air explosives..

At least with a fuel cell it's not burned...
"Proton Exchange Membrane" it's hydrogen is converted.

A steam explosion is not controlled.
Steam expands to 1430 times its cubic volume when released to atmosphere.
You must respect the energy. It can kill you.
