These are the numbers on my block, I am looking to find out if this is the original block to 1983 MCI 06 FF 4004 8067 7427 |

I would try Rollie Marine he had and old manifest on Detroit blocks years ago from the factory ,truck and marine engines in FORT LAUDERDALE FLA |

The serial number should start with 6VF for a 6V92, the second number is the model number as broken down in the service manual. |

If your bus has seen commercial service and changed hands a couple of times, It probably is not the original block that was factory installed. Actually what does it matter anyway? Engines get swapped for rebuilt as its the fastest way for an operator to get the bus back on the road. A swap one for one can take as little as 8 hours in some shops. A complete rebuild can take a week. I have pulled a bus engine by myself with the right tools in under 2 hours but its hard work. It always takes 3 times as long to put it back in and get it running again. |
