What is going on with small propane cylinders? I noted in WalMart that the tall narrow propane cylinders for shop use are less than half the price of
the shorter larger diameter cylinders in sporting goods? These two cylinders hold almost the same amount, within 2 oz, but the shorter one is more than twice as costly?? Is this some kind of scam? Isn't this all the same gas?

Hi Gus the difference between them is the larg dia. tank allows for a higher rate of flow for cooking , heaters what have you. This due to the larger area across the liquids surface. I have tried using the smaller dia. ones on my heater and they will frost up so badly as to reduce the flow and bring my heater to a wisper of heat. Why more expence I guess because of the larger tank or just because. Tim

Tim,

Thanks. You saved me the trouble of making stands for my small heaters so the taller tanks would fit.

Never thought about the flow rate, guess the smaller size acts as an expansion valve and provides cooling instead of heating!!

The greater expense is probably because we are using them for recreation. Same thing happens with parts for boats and airplanes.

How are the 3751/4151 projects going? You must be pretty far along on the driveline conversion.

IF you have electricity handy, I overcame that problem with the stick on magnetic auto oil pan heaters, stick it on the tank and it will not freeze up, and the heat kept it vaporizing.

Gus I have been having a bit of a problem locating the rear gears I need for the Meritor rear axle I am using in the 3751. It presently has 3.73 gears way to high for a .71:1 overdrive. I have been trying to locate 4.56 or 4.63 but have not found them at least not for a reasonable price yet. I will keep playing with it but for now I have been working on finishing the bed room in our 4104. Tim

Donald,

The LP heaters are for when I don't have electricity.

Tim,

I'm finishing up our 4104 bedroom also, took out the Queen and made a foam double mattress and new platform.

The original BR is too small but no way to expand so am shrinking the bed.
