I had two blowouts on six year old Continntals last fall on way to Rio Grande Valley. I want to replace six with some other brand...need advice on kind, #of ply, wall rating etc...Already have two steer with 25K miles that can switch to tag inot Continentals) so need two steer and four drive....or, should I go for all steer? Advice appreciated and would like to put new on SAP. Am worried about putting more miles on them. Thanks for any replies. Bill |

I am going to have Goodyear G670RV radials in the 315/80R22.5 size put on my MCI tomorrow. I talked to a Yokohama fleet tire guy and he said he wouldn't recommend them since they don't have a long term track record yet. The Goodyears at least have a nationwide warranty. All are expensive at $600 each mounted and balanced. I use Steer Tires in all positions. New fronts and the old ones get moved back to tags. Drives all get replaced in sets of 4 (never mismatched) The fronts and the tags get the most sidewall flexing and scrubbing so the strongest tires go there. Matched drives keeps loading equal so temps between inner and outer are near the same. I make tire guys crazy.. Measure the fully inflated outside diameter of each tire and group them accordingly. If the spec says 495 revs per mile it's based on diameter and they do vary a little from one tire to another. Measuring is the only sure fire insurance. The closer a match the better grade of tire and longevity. |

Anything but Doublecoin (Kelly-Springfields & Hankooks are pretty good & priced reasonably) on the front, Bandag on the drives. |

I vote Kumho steer tires all the way round. Best price and they don't crack like michelins. |

I'm with Gary I love Kumho's we use their steer tire all the way around, move steers to tags around 65-50% and regroove once! Fair price and have had 0 problems! Might also get in touch with Bruce Knee from here on the board! I hear he can get some good prices. |
