In my ongoing attempts to improve/design a suitable small diesel engine to incorporate into my 24VDC generator/Air conditioning Compressor power pack I ran across this light weight (120 lbs) 19 hp V twin water cooled "KIPOR" Chinese diesel engine at http://www.kipor.com/prouducts_detail.asp?info_id=458 . Has anyone had experience with this small KIPOR diesel engines as far as endurance and reliability goes.

Vertical shaft engine.
the website also refers to "IF" speculation which means they "will" build them "IF" someone orders a bunch.
Until more lawnmowers end up with them you probably could not get parts without waiting for the next container shipment from China, Usually 3 to 5 months apart...

Buy a Kubota D-950 or V series and be done with. That, The 3 cylinder engines are much smoother than the 2-cylinder engines. a V-Twin would sound like a Harley all the time...And shake like one too! 23:1 compression ratio!! Wow.. Lets really stress the metal....:-)

"And the problem with it sounding like a Harley?"

and I say, :-)

"Rumble in the Bay"

Can't hear the darned TV !

Stuff vibrates off the counters!

Temptation to "Clear the Pipes!"

Neighbors start buying lots of potatos and your generator starts surging and shutting down..:-)

Sorry, the 24 hour DIN of bike week is getting to me. There is this constant rumbling sound in the air and I am on the west side of the county!

I drove to Daytona on Monday to get tires on my bus. I was worn out after trying to watch 50 plus randomly moving objects surrounding me. Hey traffic is one thing but trying to navigate through a crowd of bikes in a 40 foot bus is just not my idea of fun.

Wrong link, sorry, but their is one for a horizontal engine that is similar. They are being distributed in north America now so there is a parts line, but not much for service centers that I have found. Of course we do not know how "smooth" the claim is for vibration until we manage to see one running (they are common in there generator sets that are rated at 70 decibels in the quiet version of sound box and that is run at 3,600 rpm?). Well maybe if we keep our eyes open we will eventually know weather it is worth anything beyond a very light weight disposable small boat anchor.

70 decibels is not akk that quiet.

Iv'e seen those "quiet" generators and the dead giveaway is @30 feet.(fine print) That's fine out in the woods but when a bunch of rv's get jammed up against each other at an event. The racket does tend to get annoying. Not so much the exhaust sounds but the air intake noise.

The other problem can be the harmonic noise that gets transmitted to the coach chassis. The siding and any flat panels become speakers that will resonate and amplify the noise.

I would like to see one of the V-Twin horizontal shaft engines, Would make a neat engine for a slow-show chopper.. You could turn some heads with that....:-)
