Proir to replacing the original switch panel in my 05 Eagle, there was a sticker on the panel that said something along the lines of: "To Operate Over-Rule, The Coach Must be in a Low Gear." Can someone please tell me what this means?? I didn't see anything about it in the manuals - but then again - I don't have the complete set. I figured it might let high-idle work while you are in 1st without the parking break being set - just a guess. Anyways - any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!! |

It sounds like overriding the engine safety shutdown so you can get to the side of the road. |

Exactly what its for. Allows an engine restart to move off the road in case of oil pressure or overheat shutdown. |

The over-rule was used with the four speed transmission to shift it into reverse. At least that's what I used to have to do with my 01. Put the transmission in low gear, press the over-rule button, and pull the shifter into second gear. The over-rule operated a solenoid on the transmission causing it to shift into reverse. This was always fun when maneuvering tight spaces without power steering. |

Yeah, to overrule the shutdown and get of the roadway. |

Ok, I didn't have a switch in the panel for over-rule. Didn't even have an empty place where one could have went. Is this something that would have automatically happened if the bus was in 1st gear? On another note, the "motor guard" was removed from my Eagle at some point in the past. Therefore it will not ever shutdown unless I tell it to (or it decides to due to some mechanical failure). The downside to this is that the low oil and high temp lights no longer work on the dash. I've contemplated getting a replacement for it and trying to get that system working again or maybe i'll just rewire how the lights on the dash work. |

Uhhhh... "there was a sticker on the panel that said something along the lines of: "To Operate Over-Rule, The Coach Must be in a Low Gear." - - - - - - - - "Ok, I didn't have a switch in the panel for over-rule. Didn't even have an empty place where one could have went. Is this something that would have automatically happened if the bus was in 1st gear? " (my wife does that to me) To the best of my recollection: Some buses had a regular keyed "ignition switch". You just twisted to start, and that overrode the shutdown. On buses without a keyed switch, you used the "override" control. And yeah, 1st gear was the gear of choice to move the bus by it's starter power alone (if it didn't start). |
