I have an ISSPRO speedometer that I bought off eBay (older model) and have the programming info.
I also have the factory info on the stock speedometer in the MC9's..

Based on the manual info which is confusing either by a typo or on purpose I cannot be sure that when the book says "4-bolts mounted 180 degrees apart" is that 4 sense bolts mounted 90 degrees from each other or 2 groups of 2 bolts which would mean 2 pulses per rotation?

Or would it be 4 bolts that provide 4 pulses per rotation.

Ok, Now for the good part... The ISSPRO docs say that 4 pulses is not enough if I read it right.

Has anyone changed speedometers on their MCI and happen to know the pulse count from the factory magnetic sensor?

The ISSPRO speedometer docs say it needs a calibration setting above 10080 ...duh?

If I use the 4-pulses/Rev @ 495 revs/mile I get 1980 per mile.
The chart indicates Frequency @ 60 mph

Now I am confused.. Do I need to add cap screw studs to the brake drum to double or quadruple the signals or what?

Any help would be appreciated...

The big numbers are usually calculated as a per-mile count. Usually the speedo head has calibration dip switches that allow great latitude for various system counts.
Are you sure that your speedo reads off the left front wheel? If so, original wheel sensors had two magnets 180* apart. My MC9 (87) and several others (83s) that I'm familiar with, read from a signal generator mounted on the transmission. This includes both ATEC and HT740 Allison autos. I discovered this after looking for lost magnets.
My speedo is considerably off...although it is repeatable..just got to "factor" for an accurate speed. I've come to the conclusion that the speedo isn't calibrated correctly, and I'm going to pull the thing and
get someone to change the calibration switches while driving.
That is, unless for some unknown reason this ain't a good idea.
Post what you find. It may save some of us a lot of work!

Gotta' admit, it's so much easier to just use a GPS unit on the dash...
(most accurate, too)

I have a GPS and use that more anyway.

I got this other speedo because my odometer doesn't work. I had to tell the tire guy the other day that my bus had 1 mile on it.

I don't think mine has the tranny sensor, But thats an idea to crawl back in there and look.
The book says left front but that could be wrong since options changed based on serial numbers.

Thanks....

DrDave, I have the email address for Isspro, their information department: info@isspro.com this may help you also, here is their website http://www.isspro.com/. I would say that the magnetic pick ups are at 90 degrees apart, from what I've seen from these type of sensors. There is all kinds of information at their website. Good luck!

Been to the ISSPRO website and got the install manual already. That's where the confusion started.

The MCI manual says that my pickups are on the left front and actually are 180 degrees apart.
From what I can tell there is a sensor and a wire there so that has to be it.

I may do something strange since I have a Rostra Cruise control I may just add a new sensor on the driveshaft to feed the cruise and speedo and not worry about trying to reinvent the "wheel" :-)

Thanks Guys,
