A fellow next door to me, asked if I seen a story on the news yeterday about someone who purchaced a high end RV or Bus Conversion that, on his first trip out he felt tired and hit the [auto pilot or cruise control] than proceeded to get up and make a cup of coffee. Good guss! a Horrific Crash, unknown casualties!! I wanted to know if anybody else herd of this story! I, not hearing it myself! Nick- |

That one is over 30 years old or more. Started off in the version I heard as an airline pilot suing winnebago for a faulty autopilot. Cruise control = Autopilot Actually may go all the way back to the first cruise control equipped car. Put it on and take a nap... |

Reminds some, of the days when we tied the reins to the buckboard and peed out the rear of the wagon....... (bourbon myth) |

Yep, Urban Legend...but I've got a real story. A couple from Texas came to stay at our Campground in a rented sticks & staple with a slideout. The next morning I was out by the road talking to someone hooking up their toad when these folks were pulling out with the slideout still out. I waved them down before they took off out of the Campground. The driver rolled the window down and asked what the problem was. I ask him if he knew if the slideout was out. The wife in the passenger seat said that their kids were asleep on the couch and they did not want to wake them. A major disaster on the freeway was averted that day. I could probably write a book on interesting campground happenings... Brent |

I'm surprised there wasn't an interlock to prevent the vehicle from being moved with the slideout open. |

Brent that happens down here in south Texas fairly often. Some of the slideouts invariably fail to close when spring comes for winter Texans, so they just drive to a repair place. Roads are wide, no problem. Some of those silly slideouts are only a few inches anyway. |
