I'm gradually finding and stopping small oil leaks. It turns out that at least half of the leaks are from the trans. Just found one at a connection at the bottom of the output end of the trans just below where the original manual parking brake was mounted. This connection had a 1/2" copper tube coming out of it which was cut off and crimped. The crimped tube may be the source of the leak which I will fix. My question is, what was the purpose of this copper tube and where did it go? I find nothing in either manual about it but presume it was some kind of lube oil source for the parking brake?? Thanks |

bgs04, Thanks, makes all kind of sense. Now all I have to do is find a way to install a pipe plug. |

Gus, are you sure you want to seal it? Sounds like you need to possibly replace a seal. Richard |

Richard, This leak is well below the output shaft seal and is leaking even though the bus has been parked for months. A shaft seal will only leak when the bus is being used. I'll eventually replace the output shaft bearing and will do the seal then. I'm sure it leaks also but I have so many leaks while underway I have to find them one at a time. |
