Does anyone know where there might be either an 8V71 or 92 with a working Jake Brake which might be for sale? I've pretty much exhausted all the possibilities of using a Telma or Klam brake on my MC5 and the thought of "She Who Will Not be Disobeyed' constantly thumping on her imaginary brake on the other side of the bus would end up making me bi-polar in a hurry! Would appreciate any info.... Thanks, NCbob |

Just curious, why have you "exhausted all the possibilities of using a Telma or Klam brake" ? |

And then "She Who Will Not be Disobeyed' will probably complain about the noise from the jakes. You can't win! Make her drive! Mine tenses and stomps the floor, Then the mouth starts! And that's in the car ! In the bus, I just yell Stopping, Grab onto something! |

Bob, I can't imagine being whipped with one of those that thangs. (Oh wait... yes I can. It's kinda' nice, actually). Get her a kid's steering wheel that she can hold onto.. the kind with the "beep-beep" horn button. "Stomp - Beep Beep - Stomp". Yeah, she's ready for Floriduh. |

I've heard a used Jake Brake can be added to an engine for $1000 to $1200. Could one really be added to a Series 60 at this price? I really don't know where to go for something like this. Southern Oregon Diesel or US Coach would probably be good choices if they weren't at least 1,500 miles away. Brian Elfert |

Gary, in answer to you question it seems that: A Telma can't be used on a '5 because of the short drive shaft.... Extending the shaft through the drop box and mounting the Telma to the extended shaft would take more money that the whole rig is worth.... Finding a used Telma is like trying to find a virgin at Spring Break in Biloxi.. I'm getting too darned old for all this crap. "In the face of total opposition....acquiesce". |

I see! Well. Jakes it is then! They're not so bad... Hmmmm, I guess I gotta go to Biloxi during spring break... I found myself a Telma, maybe I can nab a virgin while I'm on a roll!!
