I don't think the threads were "shut down"... maybe they just "petered out". What exactly do you want to know about your engine? It's probably the most prolific bus engine made. And a decent combination of reliabilty and economy for its era. Without the turbo it loses power at altitude, of course. If yours is in good shape (starts easily, little smoke, little leaks) you have nothing to worry about. If you do nothing else to it, use CF2-rated straight 40wt. oil in it and nothing else. And if you purchase Detroit's Service Manual for it, you'll find out more than you'll ever need to know about them. Brian (8v71) Brown PD4106-1175 Longmont, CO |

Greg, Please let me know which threads were shut down. There is nothing this board wouldn't entertain in the way of constructive opinions about either the 6v71 or anything else. The only threads shut down are those which contain personal attacks. But those are deleted, not "shut down". Lemme know. Ian www.busnut.com |

Hey Ian, I ran into what might be the same problem searching the archives. Right when you get to what you want it "peters out" with "further discussion on this topic is closed (sic) see your moderator". |

The "discussion is closed" messages are on every single thread in the archive. Those messages are there because you can't add messages to a thread that has been moved to the archives. It doesn't mean somebody shut down the thread when it was active. Brian Elfert |

You can always resurrect a topic by simply starting a new thread, like how this thread was done. Be descriptive in the title and they (we) will come! |
