Are you getting any turbo boost? You may have blown one of the hoses to the charge air cooler. Brian Elfert |

no secrets we have a detroit diesel 60 series ddec2 fitted in a erf es8 tractor 4x2 unit that we race in the uk ,just happened by chance to drop onto this website top dollar by the way .and through various peoples input we have turned round a poorly performing engine .our main problem was turbo lag as we use a shcwitzer sd400 turbo made to suit racing it takes some spinning but gives out around 35 to 60lb of boost depending on conditions any way ddec2 goes into fault after 25lb of boost if i remember correctly.any way to get round this we disconnected the turbo boost sensor and linked the throttle return signal into the turbo boost return .put your foot down and the ecu sees full throttle and full boost at the same time gives it loads of fuel and away we go .but we forgot that the ecu takes a snapshot of the external air pressure when the ignition is turned on so if you dont put your foot hard down when turning the ignition on it thinks its at the top of the himalayas and wont go as we want it to . we havent got our website up yet but brief details at www.btra.org team colletts |

Don't know much, but a mechanic friend informed me that when computerized (hew) engines find a fault the set the engine to the 'limp home' mode. Little power, but we'll be home in a few days I guess. One of the engines he worked on needed to have the battery disconnected for a few minutes so when it 're-booted', it would load its normal program. Don't know if this helps. Let us know what you find eventually succeeds! TomNPat |

Hello Keith. I'd be wondering if the missing auto tranny might be the gremlin. What signals does the DDEC get from the tranny that might inspire it to back off the power? Maybe it can't confirm a gear, so won't go to full power? Good luck, and let us know! happy coaching! buswarrior |
