I just added a valve and line to run antifreeze through my water pump through the water heater and other plumbing lines. How do I make sure that the antifreeze goes through the lines to the icemaker? The Initial lines are rigid coper tubing so they need antifreeze or total drain and blow out with air. I am leaving my bus in storage near Charleston SC for 10 days next Friday. I want to be prepared for an unexpected freeze. |

You would have to open the ice maker valve (run water thru it) till the color shows. Why not disconnect and leave the line disconnected? |

On my icemaker, behind the front cover, there are "test points" that a wire can be inserted into to activate the solenoid. What I do, since the line is so small is to jumper the solenoid via these points so it's open and disconnect the line from the plumbing and blow it out. All the water goes into the ice cube tray and I paper towel most of it out. The rest can freeze and not do any damage. It would be very difficult to flush the icemaker when ready to de-winterize and I really don't like pink ice cubes.. although they may look good in a strawberry daquiri. |
