I installed a new program PROM chip into my Allison HTB748 ATEC computer and you can't believe the improvement in accelleration.

The new transmission program now matches the new power curve that we programmed into the Detroit DDEC computer. Now the transmission shifts at a higher point to take advantage of the torque curve and also manages the retarder a bit better as well.

The moral of the story: If you add more horsepower with the DDEC then don't forget to update the transmission computer to match.

These thing is like a whole new coach!

Don,
Not just yet but the household goods are on the truck headed to Edinburg, two of my cars are turned over to the auto mover and the tow dolly is hooked to the bus. I leave before noon today and we are going to be in houston tonight or maybe mid morning tomorrow depending on how hard I decide to drive. Will be good to get back to Texas.

Oh and sorry for the salt John.

Have a great move, Greg! The weather's got to be better in Houston!

Greg, What HP and other parameters did ou have your DDEC reprogrammed to? (Which DDEC version do you have?)

Do you have the ATEC EPROM number by chance?

Butch,
The horsepower went from 300 to 350, the rpm max went from 1900 to 2100 and the torque went from peak of 1020 to 1050. I do not have the EPROM number handy but I think I can get it off of the box. I should be back to the unit in a day or two and I will see if it is available. Otherwise I can pop the computer off and open the cover and read it. Or I can tell you who to call to get yours.

Butch,
The EPROM number is 16131657 and it was burned for me on 03/23/06. I bought it from WW Williams in Atlanta at 404-366-1070 and ask for James in the Transmission shop. Let me know if I can help you!
