I need help with issues on my skinner valves on my Bus. The Piston that pushs my butterfly to shut the engine down is working in reverse. I have to loosen the piston to and move it to the side inorder for the engine to start the engine. If I drop the air pressure down by pumping the brakes, I can start the bus with the piston engaged, but as soon as the air pressure starts building, the engine is shut down by the piston. If I have the piston out of place, I have to manually shut the engine down with the butterfly lever. Also the when the fast idle toggle swith is on the engine will rev for a second or two and then kickback down. It does this every 20 seconds or so. When I turn the Fast Idle toggle switch off, it doesn't do it anymore. I hear a air leak over top of the transmission area. Could there be a leak in the line that supplies these skinners that will not allow proper level of air to build up causing these issues?

In addition to the Skinner Valve issues the bus is riding like a bucking bronco going down the road. Could there be no air getting to the air bags as well and all these issues be because of one problem in the air system?

Brian,
I had the same problem last summer. Then I realized that I had a switch in the "REAR" control box in wrong position. Check the "STOP" toggle switch make sure it is in the "NORMAL" position. Assuming you have REAR control on your bus.

As soon as preasure builds up in the wet tank and the toggle switch is in the STOP position, it will KILL the engine.

Great post about the rear toggle switch in the off position. I read your post with interest as I was having the same problem. Went home, checked out the switch and low and behold my switch was in the off position. thanks

Now if any one can help me figure out why my fast idle selinoid blows air out the exhaust opening all the time I would greatfull. Bustedknuckle I await your words of wisdom
