I am trying to adjust the radiator fan belt on an 81 Eagle powered by a 6V92. My book does not show how to adjust this belt. it says to readjust it every 10000 miles but that is all. it appears that the alternator has an adjustment by the power steering cannister at the right rear. But I cannot see how to adjust the fan. I see the idler pully, I think but unable to see how it would be done. thanks for any help you can give Bob |

Let's see, I've done this on my 85. I seem to remember the only way I could get a wrench on the idler pulley was through the floor hatch in the bedroom. I had to have a pipe or bar or something to pry the pulley arm taught after loosening the nut. When I had my radiator out for cleaning, I thought about welding a tab or rod on the pulley arm that I could somehow do this from the rear, but I didn't come up with anything worth the effort. I think the floor hatch is your only answer unless someone has a better idea. David |

David You are right and I just had to loosen that big nut, put a bar in from the back and force it tighter, then retighten the nut. worked great thanks for your help. Bill |
