Raz Transportation, a Coach USA comapny had a bad day yesterday. On the way back to the Portland, OR area with a high school band, their bus caught on fire. The H-3 became fully involved. By the time the flames were put out the bus was fully consumed from the roof panels down to the tires. So far no cause for the fire has been determined. Fortunately no one was injured. You can go to the news story at the following link--http://www.koin.com/news.asp?ID=3997 I think this fire points up for the necessity of making sure there is more than one way to get out of the bus. Saw one of those on the way home from Vegas today on I-15, although it looked like it may have been a stick n staple. We passed it just as the fire got put out and there was still steam 'n black smoke coming off it. The only possible ID was maybe a spare tire rack on what might have been the rear... I say maybe because all there was left was a frame and a lot of black crap on the road...no wheels, nothing recognizable at all other than a lot of firemen and one cop talking to a guy who looked like your average RV'r... nasty one that was....they had a semi-tractor truck water tanker to power the firetrucks. We saw the plume for about 20 minutes before we got to pass it.. Quite a fire |

I drive by an RV salvage yard nearly every day and the sticks & staples wrecks and burn outs are just incredible. I think the insurance companies must make them take the burn outs in order to get the salvagables. There's certainly no profit to be made on the burned hulks |

Mark thanks for posting this information. I collect photos of bus/motorhome fires for my website and slide shows at trade shows. The photo in the story was just great. If anyone else has photos of bus/motorhome fires, I would really like to get a hold of them. Len, going to lots of salvage yards and seeing all of the burned-out hulks convinced me that I had to have (develop) a fire detection system.
