For those that are curious, I got the call from the shop today. I was hoping to hear that I had a stuck injector, but I got the bad news. It has a cracked head and suspected hole in the a piston. So I guess I get to re-power the old girl.

Anybody have a DD lying around that is in good shape in the Seattle area.

Thanks for all the help,

Jack

Jack, you might check with Coach Maintenance in the Seattle area. They specialized in GM coaches the last time I had talked to them. They should know how to fix you up with an engine if there is some reason not to rebuild the one you have.

That operation is partnered with Ted Campbell in Williams, CA, as far as I know.

I haven't had any dealings with Skip at the Seattle facility, but I have with Ted recently, and I'm happy with him.

Sorry to hear about your engine problems. We store our coach in that area and expect to make a trip in either June or July. Would you be interested in meeting if we can line it up?

Last time I was at Coach Maintenance, they were preparing to close the business. That was a year or so ago. They did have several DD engines on site but I have no clue where they may have gone. (Maybe down to Williams, CA.)

Have not been by there for some time, so will try to swing by today and update this info. They were not even willing to look at my coach and suggested Seattle Truck, as did the head mechanic at Grayline, a mile or so away. Seattle Truck, where I believe Jack has his coach has been great.

Nimco has left hand 8v71's for $2750. I have never dealt with them, so can't comment on that. Shipping to Seattle from NJ could be an issue. See:

Very interesting, my neighbor is a friend of Skip’s and took me down to Coach Maintenance last night. Very nice guy, he is going to get back with me after talking to his old engine builder which is now only building DD on the side now. I am just hoping my engine is at least a good core. Still wouldn’t mind finding that low mileage good used engine though.

Tom I would be interested in meeting up, hopefully you have the time. I will send you my contact info, feel free to give me a call.

Thanks again,

Jack

I have dealt with Nimco, I bought a V730 conversion kit from them for my last bus. Good guy's supported me through the whole conversion.

I was looking at that option but would like to do this job once and plan to own this coach for a while so may do the overhaul option.

Thanks,

Jack
