It sounds like you made a mistake figuring out your mileage. If you didn't, I would sure like to know how you did that. For what it's worth. Tom Caffrey PD4106-2576 Suncatcher Ketchikan, Alaska |

hello richard & tom I put In a 8.3 Cummins engine and Allison Transmission fueled up at the 70 mile marker on the Ohio turnpike that would be 70 miles, then Its 9 miles to Angola Indiana that would make It 79 miles then Its 33 miles on to Kendalville Indiana we stayed there for 4 days at a BG festival then went to Sturgis Michigan that would make It 140 miles give or take a couple, fueled up again for the price of 2.72 cents per gallon and I am very sorry that I said It was 14 mpg gallon I just figgured it up and Its 10 but It beats the heck out of 6 It shifts Into high gear at about 60 mph, remember that It Is not a detroit and I didn't run under 75 MPH its has a little bit of a heating problem and I had to run with the tailgate open on the way home because It got so dad gum hot while we was over there and I need a speedometer and tack. What is the HP rating of your 8.3? Is it a mechanical or electronic engine? If electronic does it have the new common rail injection? What Allison transmission did you put in? There was a 350 hp 8.3l for sale on eBay. That is a nice engine with good torque. The ISL 400hp with 1200 ft-lb of torque was for sale the other day. It had low hours on it. I almost felt like bidding on it for another engine swap project but I decided to squeeze my finger with a plier instead. Good luck with the cooling. |

Good Morning Greg The 8.3 Is Machanical 300 hp and 863 Ft lbs of Torque and It still has more power than the 8V71 In my MCI, also you can go most places and pick up parts for It, the truck that I took the engine out of was a Ford 8000 and It already had the Allison Mt-653 Installed In It, as I understand the engine can be turned up to 450 HP and 1200 Ft lbs but as of now It Is all that I need. Tony, 10 is good, especially if you're running 75. Maybe your heating problem is from a mismatch with that engine on your repower. Good luck on getting it solved. Tom Caffrey PD4106-2576 Suncatcher Ketchikan, Alaska |
