I have a 79 mci 9 and a cobra 3000 gps.
Can a gps be used in a bus without an external antenna?, and if it can where is the best place to place it?
Thanks in advance for any input.

I don’t know about a cobra but I have a Magellan road mate that I attached the suction cup holder to the front window of my 102a3. It worked great when I drove the bus from Chicago down to Fred Hobe’s place. I had a good strong signal with the built in ant. I found Fred’s place even out there in the Florida woods. Don’t even try and go to Jack Conrad’s place with out one.

South East West Farms road????

"South East West Farms road????"

That sounds like trying to navigate in Salt Lake City! If you 've ever been there, especally downtown, you know what I mean!

xxxx South North St. West

I guess they couldn't think of good street names. BTW, if you end up going to SLC, DO NOT rely on Mapquest, they have the totally wrong info!

Cheers!

Desoto County separated the county into 4 quadrants, NE, SE, NW, and SW. Each street name is preceded by the quadrant. It just happened that Mr. West had several farms in our area. But it does frequebtly get comments, when I am on the phone and need to give someone our address. Jack

I have an eXplorist 200 by Magellan. It works just fine inside my MCI9. I get a fix on the sats before I get on the bus to speed things up a bit and then put it in the windshield and use it as a temporary replacement for my non-working speedo.

I also used mine as speedometer and preferred it to the dash one, just layed the old style DeLorme on the bus dash, never a problem getting plenty of signals.
