Has anyone changed one from style 22 refrigerant to the new 134A refrigerant. Do I have to do compresser seperate from the condenser? Any help would be appreciated I can find no air conditioner person who will recharge the R22 thats in it. or is it time to say goodby to a good system. Larry |

R22 Freon works at higher temps and pressure than 134a. In order to change to 134a you wil have to change the compressor oil to a pag type oil and replace the expansion valves. The cooling ability may not be as good with the 134a change. You might try to find a ThermoKing dealer or Carrier transcold dealer. eather one should be able to charge the r-22 system |

If I could keep the R22, I would, it cools much better than the 134a. Higher pressures etc. Now R12 I would change to the 134a due to freon costs. |

R22 is available cheaper than r134a. Did you mean r12 to r134a? |
