PD4905-328 was delivered new in July of 1971 as fleet number 153 to Peoria-Rockford Bus Company, based in Rockford, IL. Actual date of manufacture is elusive, only thing most of us historians have is month/year of delivery to original owner. HTH, | ||

|@N - Maybe the Motor Bus Society might have the info. . . but good luck. As I said in my earlier post, month & year of delivery to original owner is all that most of us historians have. I have the Final Vehicle Record for my coach, which lists all the the major components and part numbers for same, and the only date it has on it is the date of delivery - June 17, 1964. There is no information on when the coach was actually assembled. At one point in time, there was a fellow at the MCI/TMC plant in Roswell, NM that had the microfiche rolls of the Final Vehicle Records for all the GMC Coach production, up until the purchase/move to NM. He has since retired, and I have no idea what happend to them. Probably trashed by someone who thought they were just junk, after RTS production ceased. Will Transport Canada not accept the date of delivery to the original owner as proof of age? | ||

Hi RJ, Apparently Transport Canada will not accept the date of delivery to the original owner as the proof they require. You're on the right track, too. I am researching this for a fellow who purchased the bus on eBay and it's currently stuck at the border in storage (at his expense) until he can acquire the document that states the buses' age. This person has called GM and they say there was no such documentation produced before 1975, give or take, sorry that I don't know this date exactly. Meantime, I am going to direct the fellow to this thread where he might be able to get in touch with the Peoria-Rockford Bus Company you identified earlier. Thanks a ton. |@N - Perhaps if this fellow offered Transport Canada a photocopy of the delivery roster with his coach highlighted, they might reconsider? Worth a try. . . have him email me directly with a snail mail address plus the coach's VIN, and I'll send him a copy of the appropriate page from the roster. |
