My 35 year old 3-way RV refrigerator just gave up the ghost, ammonia gas really stinks.

I'm going to replace it with an electric, non-RV, model.

Does anyone know of a low engery use refrigerator that will go through the side window of an MC8, approximately 24 inches?

Since I'm leaving from Tucson to Oregon on Tuesday, I'm not taking out a windshield or side wall to install a new refrigerator.

I can pick one up along the way if need be.

In the mean time, sure glad I kept the 128 quart ice chest, VBG.

Thanks for your help,

John

John, I bought this one at the local scratch an dent place, but it is available at Slowes...sorry...Lowes. It fit thru the door of my MC8 and 2 folks get it in pretty easy. I love it. it has a lot more room inside than the RV model it replaced.
It is Whirlpool 15cuft model with Stainless front. These ave avail in white an dblack colors as well and are stocked at most all Lowes.

I had to make the cabinet opening about 8" taller IIRC to accomidate the new fridge. For me, it just meant giving up a cabinet drawer below the old RV fridge.

Lots easier to go thru the door than thru the window, I'd think. Let me know if you need another photo-hope this helps

John, the Energy Star refrigerators are down to less than 400 kwh per year. We found that we could get a Sears unit that used under 40 kwh per month priced quite reasonable.

While we will stay with Norcold propane because we boondock a lot, you should be able to get your generator time down to a couple of hours every other day with one of the electrics.

Two hours of generator time ought to get you around 3 kwh into your batteries.

Good luck with your selection.
