I'm doing an MC-9. I've been trying to plan the shower, but keep running into one problem after the other. I wanted to put in a 32" neo round from Maax, but it is 78 inches high including the base and doors (I figure I can only go 70" and keep it next to the wall). Back to plan "B", a 32" neo (regular hex). I can find a base, now where can I find a door set (without having to take out a second mortgage)? I figure the base is about 5" high, which leaves 65" max for the doors. I can reduce the side against the wall, but I'm still trying to find a source. |

By the time you get the shower head in, you will have to squat down to rinse your hair. I put mine in the center of the coach an am building the rest around it. Ed |

my coach has about 1 foot recessed into one of the bays. Seems like a good idea and bay still has lots of useable space and no shower leaks onto floor. |

Mike - Planning the bath can be very dismaying, if you forget to check what's under the area you have to poke a hole through. Make sure your drains will be between the center duct, the chair rail, the side beam, and inside a bay area...... It can really ruin a perfectly good day, when you find that fancy $$$ shower stall you've bought and hauled home, isn't going to work in any configuration you desire... After a ton of juggling, I (We) decided the split bath configuration that most all motorhomes use, is the most practical for us. The toilet and sink will be inside it's own compartment, with the shower opposite it against the opposite wall. A 32" shower is max. We figured that since we don't spend as much time in the shower as we do living in the "living room", most of our space will be dedicated to the front living area. A fair sized kitchen, a small bath area and a practical bedroom. To each their own! That's what's great about doing it yourself! But be careful to plan around obstacles you can't move. |

Mike, The shower in my 4106 is recessed into the floor. The shower sits in a metal pan made out of what looks to be about 10ga. steel, it is set down down the height of the shower base. (about 5 inches) It works perfectly, it is as strong or stronger than the original floor, and gives the added head room needed along the side of the coach. The only difference is that you step down a half step, the doors and surround still work like they were designed. I have as much room in the bus shower as I do in the house. |

Mike - Check with a local supplier for storm/screen doors, if you can't find a reasonable shower door that size.... If the solid variety is what all hell's bent on.. The usual folding shower doors available at Camping World, etc. can solve the problem at a fraction of the cost of a solid, glass type! Easier to install, too. Happy showering |

Use RV doors with a Neo corner. Obviously won't be round...is Neo Angle a possibility? If under 6' and 200 lbs...or thereabouts this works...for those taller, or larger, RV showers are smallish and may not be a good solution. That's what I did and it works fine...used an RV type shower head, which is removable (and cuts off with a button to save water when dry camping), so no need to "squat" down to rinse your hair. One biggie boo-boo I created was spraying "Great STuff" behind the shower wall. Thought it would seal up the area real good. It did. And it expanded (says it won't expand on the can) and bucked the shower wall out slightly...this is making for an issue. Now I've got to get it out before trimming the top of the shower. I used a complete RV Neo Angle shower designed for an RV. The fiberglass stall had to be cut down about 5" to fit the curve of my MC9 sidewall, but the shower doors are a good fit without modification. It is located on the side, typical of an S&S. Have you considered raising the roof? JR |

Where did you get your neo base (is it a 32")? I see Duo-Form has one for about $200+. I already bought some colored FRP for the walls. Then I'm trying to find a door and side lites that are about 60" tall. That will allow a 5" base height and still not hit the roof. I have no plans to raise the roof on this one. |

I tried to put a fancy shower in my bus but I gave up because of "head room" in the shower. Bougt a simple shower from Home Depot about 68" tall x 32" x 32" and I put it against the wall. I could just push it through the bus rear door. But it works fine not fancy, just functional. Most shower stalls are built on a 4-6" platform the one I bought sits flat on the floor. Check my page at so you can see it. http://www.promarc.com/hobbies/Insulation/index.html |

Hi Mike Many glass and plumbing companies can custom order shower enclosures to your specs. It costs but then you get what you want and will fit your application. Hope this helps Rob 91 LeMirage XL Missouri |

I dunno, maybe I'm in another world.... but I don't remember ever seeing a shower door that goes from floor to ceiling. ... Shower curtains aren't that long, either.. Most all RV shower doors are of sufficient size to accommodate the size of an average human.. |

Mine worked ok and maybe because it's a 92 prevost BUT...the same size and type shower fit perfectly in our 1965 01 Eagle and it was against the wall where the curve is. It will work if you want it to, and to the guy that said you would have to bend over to rinse your hair... what are you 7 feet tall? I'm an average size guy (5'11") and I have no problem rinsing off without bending over! Just do it your way and you'll end up with what works for you as we ALL have! Ace |

Thanks for all the ideas, I still have not found a supplier for the door (3 pieces for the neo, 2 side lites and a door) that will be under 70". The one local RV supplier here only deals with the pans, no doors. The internet can be a curse sometimes, when I do a search I get to looking at all the neat ideas, but none that will fit. So...more leads for a supplier for a glass door under 65" (preferably 60") would be appreciated. Thanks for the ideas, Mike |

Why not save yourself all the aggravation and buy a kit from HD or Lowes and be done with it. They will work and that way you don't have mis matched pieces from who knows where! Seriously, I have installed two of them in two different busses with NO problems and NO roof raise in the Eagle! I will admit my Prevost is a little higher but not much! Ace |

I've looked at all the "kits" I can find and have not been able to find a 32" neo shower. When I can find one, the doors + base are too tall, that's my quandry. Mike |

Maybe I'm just not figuring this out right? Give me a few details on your installation. At the wall I only have 70", in the middle of the isle I only have 75". This is all with the original (not built up) floor. Thanks, Mike |

In Our Eagle we put the neo angle shower against the wall with the shower head at the rear and the door abviously towards the front. I had to MAKE a makeshift section to the right of the door since the Eagle had a curved ceiling to wall junction. In other words a sqaure won't fit in a round. All I did was take the one side sectionof the shower and dis-assembled it to remove the glass. I couldn't find anyone to cut it due to it being tempered so I installed a piece of Plexi-glass the size I needed with it NOT going all the way to the top. I had it at an angle which still made it a a little short of making the curved wall. I simply spaced that section in using a piece of matching white plastic fence post. When it was done, it actually looked like part of the original shower. You can kind of get an idea as to what I'm talking about by going here: http://groups.msn.com/AceRossiMotorsports/motorcoaches.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=353 The in person view looked a whole lot better than what this pic can tell you. Use some thought and almost anything can be done to make it work as in our newer prevost coach. I kind of had the same problem but by simply moving the shower OUT from the wall about 4 inches, I was able to sqaure it up and NOT have to shorten the shower walls! That one is installed completely opposite of my Eagle as you can see it here under construction: http://groups.msn.com/AceRossiMotorsports/foolsgold.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=513 and here it is completely finished but the part on the left is a closet and your seeing the door to it: http://groups.msn.com/AceRossiMotorsports/foolsgold2.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=600 Like I said, give it some thought. Maybe on the one shower wall that goes to the short side of the bus, you can completely eliminate the shower GLASS wall and fabricate a water tight wall without the glass or maybe even have a pice of glass inserted IN the wall! Look at some of the newer coaches and get some ideas. That's what we did! Good luck... Ace |
