Got it done! The hardest part was the radiator; had to both narrow it and recess it into the body, rework Grumman shroud and make new fan spacer. Check out the pics:

Hey, nice work. That looks like a really clean installation. Congrats on the repower... I bet you feel that when you hit the loud pedal!

WOW, Nice work. Bet it will fly. I remember the first time I took my Fishbowl out with the 6V92 & V730. It makes them feel like a car upon acceleration.

Mark,

What a great job you did.
Did you modify the engine in terms of torque and HP?
I need to repower my bus also. And how many horses are you getting or do you know?

Thanks.

James,

I didn't modify the engine. I believe these Grumman buses originally came with a 350HP engine, but the bus company had modified the engine for smog and smoke compliance. I think they changed the camshafts, the liners and pistons, and the injectors to smaller ones. From what I've been reading, this engine could be as little as 277HP. But it was still a HUGE improvement over my naturally aspirated 671.

I had to replace one liner in the Grumman bus engine, but other than that it was in good condition.

I see you have a Grumman bus. Is it a 6V92-TA engine, or just the 671? What engine are you thinking of repowering to? :-)

Thanks,
Mark

Nice job. Lot of work but worth it. I just repowered my GM New Look with a 6V92TA DDECIV and a V731 ATEC. It is as you say EPA complient so I know the HP is 277. Would like more but it has a lot of torque as it is. Have fun. Bill
