My 81 MCI 9 has a 8v71 any idea on cost.I need to get a reman short block or have an inframe overhaul.Looking to get another 5 years out of the coach with a good degree of reliability. Or perhaps a reliable used?

First thing you need to find ,is an EXCELENT two-cycle mechanic.they are getting hard to find,ask around,only settle for somebody with excelent references,as long as you haven't thrashed the engine,(knocking ,etc. ) I would vote for what they call an inframe,'cept in a bus,they usualy bring the engine & cradel out & put in new cylinders,pistons& rings & all new bearings.CANNOT stress too much tho,it will be worth your while to search,and find a EXCELENT TWO-CYCLE mechanic. that will be the most important part of the whole thing,
