In 750 miles, my engine has produced about 1 1/2 cups of slobber from the airbox drain tubes. It's pretty black even though the engine oil is clear because I just changed it a 1000mi ago. It's a 6V-92TA. I have Rotella 40w CF in there. I'm going to pull the plates and inspect all the rings, check the drain check valves, etc. I'm hoping it's just a blower gasket-yeah right. I don't idle it excessively, it has good power, oil pressure and doesn't smoke once it's up to temp. I'm guessing it shouldn't be venting that much out the drain tubes? Hank | ||

first thing everybody is going to tell you is to change the oil..but,it NOT oil,that is fuel comeing out the slobber tubes,look for a stuck injector,a broken or cracked injector line or fitting.if it was 750 miles in town driveing,that's o.k. ,cause the two cycle probably didn't get warmed-up..& it's not realy too bad, slobber is unburned fuel,nothing wrong with your oil. | ||

I would almost advise to do nothing,that's really nothing to worry about, I know diesel is 3.00 a gallon,but,the two stroke is just a sloppy engine, | ||

Bob, I had the rack run this spring and the mechanics didn't say anything was wrong-I assume they would notice stuck injectors, bad lines, etc? (they better have for the &#^$@ $$$$ I paid!!!! It was mostly highway miles. My average run is probably about 100 miles or less tho' so I know that's not exactly a long haul. I've been reading the archives and many suggest that it is oil getting past rings or the blower gasket. I'm hoping it's either normal or something that doesn't indicate a worn engine. It was supposed to have had an inframe 50K ago (they all say that, don't they?). Hank | ||

You're right. I worry too much! It's my inexperience and not knowing what is "normal" plus I like my machines to be in good working order. When they're not it just bugs me. I have to keep in mind how well she runs! </therapy> | ||

We have two bloodhounds...I am used to slobber!! They also smell bad (in a good way). Billie our female sits right next to me in the isle watching the world go by and pretends she is copilot. Always gets lots of smiles. | ||

Perhaps, best to get rid of the collection device and let it piddle out on the ground? What you don't know won't hurt you? Is the oil level dropping? Sometimes, and I mean sometimes, it is best not to know? What do I know, I'm just a busnut? happy coaching! buswarrior | ||

We had the same concern with my bus with a 6V92TA. It idled at a friends house a lot. Then it idled at the shop. Then we went hunting like lunitics for the mystery oil leak. Someone posted about it the other day, and I posted one asking about it, but then retracting it after I read the previous post. Mine cleaned itself up when I ran it hard down the road for about 30 minutes (2 15 minute runs). I was trying out the new gears, so I had it running nice and hard, and it was scooting along very nicely with the 4.10's installed.  | ||

the two-cycle doesn't like two things,it doesn't like it below 180 engine temp.,and it doesn't like it below 1200 r.p.m.,anytime you are doing either of those,you are going to have slobber |
