I bought a 81 mci 9 in Boston Ma. When I was bringing it home to Ohio the engine dropped a bearing at the Ma\NY border on interstate 90. Does anyone know of a company in the area that I can get to tow my bus to ohio. Need to get it done fast. The company that towed it off the interstae is charging 40 dollars a day storage. thanks carl MCI9 This is about 50 miles from Albany NY | ||

In the meantime, perhaps someone living in the area could store the coach for you? If it's a 6V92T, there are a good many takeouts that could be bought and installed more reasonably than a rebuild...there is some risk with that approach...but a major engine rebuild could run into the $12 to $15K area too. Complete used 6V92T MUI engines are $2K and up. Maybe get some sort of oil pressure and run warranty? A used bus engine could be R&R'ed in an MC9 in a day easily. US Coach is down in New Jersey...856-767-4848 He would probably know who is in the area and who to avoid. If the tow down to Luke wasn't onerous, that may be a consideration...it would be a good move if doable. Hope someone is able to get you going! Sorry to hear of your misfortune...JR | ||

I'd give Luke a call at that above number and see what he has to say.... The cost to tow that rig from Albany NY to anyplace in Ohio, is going to be more than the bus is worth. I'd wager that it'd be less expensive to have a local bus company (to where it now is) replace the bearing and get you rolling on your own. What kind of guarantee did you get with that thing? 30 days or 30 miles is typical.... | ||

You might try Nimco Bus in Newark for 6V92 takeouts. RH 6V92T lists at $4K on their site. 1-800-526-8055 http://www.nimcobus.com/ I have never used them, but I have seen a couple of favorable posts. | ||

Carl, If you choose to tow it down to Luke's place in South Jersey, I'll try to get a phone number for John Lilla. He has a wrecker service. We use him for all of our trucks if possible. carl,sorry to hear of your troubles.there is a LH 6v92 complete on ebay in the bus section(fully documented engine) with a current bid of less than $600. engine islocated in FL. guy says engine can be switched to a RH engine.suppose to have less than 60k miles.good luck to ya,and i hope everything works out. | ||

NOOOOOOOOO....don't attempt to convert a LH rotation to a RH...not if you want to ride this year. Buy a RH. It could be converted, but changing rotation requires a ton of work...the cams, crank oil drilling, oil pump, oil jets...you get the picture. JR | ||
