I’ve been reading post for about 3 months I’m going to pick up our 1968 40’ Eagle 01 in a couple of weeks it has been a couch for the past 30 years I want to totally rebuild it the first thing I’m going to do is raise the roof and my question is once I remove the old windows and replace ones were I want them when putting on the fiberglass siding and front and rear caps what is the pest way to fasten them in place I don’t want to see any rivets as I have seen on other buses. Thanks for any info. | ||

Jerome, Fiberglass + No Rivets = Sikaflex 252 Call International Bus Parts and they can set you up with what you need. I used it on my metal siding and liked it. Craig - MC7 Oregon | ||

Jerome, I bought fiberglass from R&M and their caps too. I riveted the top of the sheet at the drip rail, under the roof skin and at the bottom (in the belt line). I covered the belt with a trim piece. The middle was glued with a urethane caulk (Savogran NP-1) Sikaflex is the same stuff. I did this in 2000 and have had no problems. The caps are riveted around the edges. All other places in the middle are glued. The rear cap goes under the roof skin. The front goes over the roof skin. Warning--do not try to make a bondo butt splice where the caps meet the fiberglass siding ends. It will crack no matter what you do. Just glue a trim piece and let it float. David | ||

Thanks, you all have been a big help. This will be our first bus, but we have been in a 5th wheel trailer for 3 years. |
