I was asked to move a bus (GM PD4106) last night. The radiator has a slow leak so I had to add water. When I arrived at the new location and parked the bus I notice a stream coming from under the center of the bus right under the fuel tank. After close examination I was able to determine that it was only luke warm water and not diesel fuel. I would like to know what would cause water to leak from this area. The only thing I could think of is a supply line for heat. Would someone please shed some light? Thanks! |

It is most likely leaking from somewhere in the A/C compartment. If your bus heat is intact, there are lots of things in there that could leak. Len |

In saying the following I'm assuming that the 4106 is about the same setup as my 4104. There are two long water lines from the engine to the windshield defroster and bus heaters. These lines connect to the bus heating system just forward of the fuel tank and go on forward to the defrosters. Even when heaters are gone the defrosters are usually still operating. Even when the defrosters are gone the lines are sometimes still installed. There are two valves high on the left firewall. It is a long, greasy reach. Turn these off and the leak will stop. Turned out the leak was from a hose that burst in the AC compartment flooding it with water. The hose was replaced which seem to have stopped the leak. I will pass the information on shutting off those two valves on to the owner. |
