Several times people have posted that they wanted all electric and were having trouble finding a 110 volt cook top. This year there is a flood of new low priced single burner induction cook tops. (For examples, search INDUCTION COOK on Ebay.) We just bought one for home and can see it as a very good solution for all electrics. The one I bought is 1200 watts, has 9 temp settings, yes TEMP SETTINGS, and a timer, can use with pans 4" to 11" in diameter. Since the unit itself runs cool, two could be built in to counter top (needs air circulation for cooling fan on bottom). They could be drop in so that they remove quickly for cleaning or to use as a free standing warming hot plate at a pot luck or BBQ. They only work with pans made of steel, iron, magentically active Stainless Steel, Porcelin on steel or iron, etc. The pan must attract a magnet. (All of our SS cookware except one fry pan does.)

Current prices run around $130 each with shipping.

We will be using one also as our only cooktop, but I am going to leave it free standing so I can put it away when not in use. That way, I have all that valuable counter space that I want. I have tried it at home and it works well, but I dont have enough experience for a full report yet. I am saving it for the bus. And hopefully we will be using it befoe the end of the year!!!

We have used with GREAT success a free standing griddle. It cooks almost everything especially breakfast foods! It cleans up nice and stores away easy! Bought it at Wal-Mart. It worked so good, we bought one for the in-laws and they love thiers as well when used at thier home!
