Bob, The Timmonsville CoC wouldn't be of any help! He's laying under a tree down by the pond with a cold beverage in his hand and 23 empty ones beside him. Christopher.... You can find information about the rally in Timmonsville, Sc at: http://www.busconversionstuff.com/eventpage.htm There you will find the flyer and a link to the registration form. Fill out the form and send it email or snail mail to us along with the camping and food fees and show up on October 5th-8th and be ready for a great time! Dallas and Cat Timmonsville, SC |

I'll be there....Also don't forget about the one in DE in two weeks. Both will be a lot of fun. Then there is BK's rally in middle nothern TN in late October. The rally scene is quite active this year on the east coast. |

Speaking to people that have been thru the "newbie conversions" can save you a bundle...you'll learn what to not do! And you will meet a good many "Nuts"...I'll garuntee! Come'on down...even if you cannot arrange your bus pickup dates...it's not a long drive from Asheville. Definitely an easy drive...interstate almost all the way. Downhill off the mountain too! NCBob's coming down from Franklin...that's a lot further. Almost as far as Jack C's driving up from Florida! Not quite...almost.. Also a very inexpensive weekend! See you at Timmonsville! JR BTW, you don't play a banjer do ya? Bring it with you! "Muziklver" must be a musician...be some music in Timmonsville! (Message edited by njt5047 on September 15, 2006) |

Christopher, First of all, thanks for the forwards on the 4106's on Espray. I'm really considering them, but I also found a '63 4106 in Atlanta that I might do because it's closer. Funny small world, I am also a sound engineer as well as a technical electronics engineer who keeps most of the studios running around here (and a number everywhere else). Good luck at SAE. If you ever need a referral contact in Nashville in the studio biz, drop me an e-mail, I may be able to help. Also used to play bass, but haven't in years. Enjoyed it when I did, though. Happy bussin' BusCrazyTom the Analog Dinosaur |

Christoper, Thanks, and if you do come through Athens on your way back with the new 4104, drop me a line and let me know. Fellow busnuts and stray sound engineers always welcome. Yeah, I'm not above driving to get what I want either, so we'll see how it goes on the ones in Ohio. Diesel here is still at $2.79/gallon, but I think it will drop lower next time they refuel thier tanks. Thanks Tom |

Yep. I know about music and buses. What sort of music do you play? "Bassist" sounds "upscale?" Got any deals on a nice 4 string fretted electric bass? Fender? Bought a 5 string Ibanez and played the thing for two years at Carowinds and still am not comfortable with it. Play an upright 3/4 exclusively now. I'm a bluegrass bass player ("base" player?)...don't qualify as a "bassist"...but, have a lot of fun..at some expense to the audience. That's why we only play to imbibing crowds...! Maybe you can show me some upright licks at Timmonsville? I'm bringing a bass. Have you noticed that "Bluegrass" and "Bus" both begin with the same letter...coincidence? I think not! ;) See you at Timmonsville! JR BTW, looks like you bought a completed conversion? That's good if you plan to use it in this lifetime. |

JR,not a completed conversion,it was,but has been completely gutted.guy i purchased fromk stipped everything because it was so dated.he went through everything on the drivetrain.he had some health/money problems and was forced to sell.......so right now i have a alluminum tent with 2 roof airs!!!only interior it has is a brand new black leather air drivers seat!!!btw,no formal training here,i qam a self taught bass(base)player, aqnd still teaching myself daily!lol!i was a drummer and horn player growin' up.i give up the horn a few yrs back, and had to let the drums go last year after i had my left shoulder re-constructed after a bad accident at work........so JR,maybe you can show a young buck a thing or two.......... |

"so JR,maybe you can show a young buck a thing or two.........." I'll let you decide...bring yourself and family down to Timmonsville and we'll share ideas! See you there! Did I read that the bus was going to be your home in Nashville in a few weeks? Will it serve as a truck or you going to live in it? Better get some insulation in that thing...if it doesn't have any...get real cold in there...if you plan to live in the bus. We'll sort this out too when we meet! Regards, JR |

RJ, we will not be living in the bus,we are buying a new home in nashville.we will be using the 4104 as a "moving truck",and will be towing a 10 ft trailer.mostly boxes in the bus, with the heavier stuff going on the trailer.this shouldn't be a problem. |

Christopher - Put the heavier stuff in the bus & in the baggage bays - that will help keep the tongue weight on the trailer down. Heavy tongue weights on GMCs has been an ongoing argument for years, most folk saying to error on the side of caution. What type of horn did you play?

RJ,by heavier stuff i mean appliances, the stuff that will not fit in the bus!LOLif it will fit through the door of the bus that is where it will go,and of course i will be constructing a divider wall to keep things secure, and most importantly to keep me safe.oh yea,i played the trumpet for about 10 yrs,but quit in college because i started smoking...good news is that i quit after smoking for almost 20 yrs.now that i am starting to get my breath back again, i may get another horn to play around with some. |

Well, in that case, make sure you balance the trailer as best you can, trying to keep the tongue weight in the 200 - 300 lb range. As for me, I've got four saxophones sitting in my entryway closet. . .
