I am running a 32volt system and would like to reduce some of it down to 12 volt for a macerator pump and three windschield wipers. Does anyone know if there is such a thing as an inline inverter/converter or how I could do that. Changing entire system would not be cost effective. i.e. windschield wiper motor (converting from air) over 300.00 32volt, about 100.00 12volt. Pump same thing.

Hi,

What type and voltage batteries are in your coach, and in what manner do you have them wired?
It's possible that I'm a bit ignorant of what's out there (relative to batteries, as I do not deal with them daily), but are you certain it's 32v & not 36?

Assuming that you cannot tap your battery array to obtain a 12v feed, then you could do it electronically with a 12v regulator, with enough pass transistors in it's output to handle the current draw, connected between the 32v feed and the power input to the pump & wipers.

If you're handy with electronics, constructing such a circuit should be easy.

Harwood -

There's a bunch of places out there that sell 32 to 12 vdc converters.

Example?

Nowadays, anything's possible!

Harwood, one other thing; you want to make sure that you can turn off your DC to DC converter easily because they continue to draw some power even if there is no load.

We have a Newmar and it works just fine.

For what it's worth.
