Our Kabota Gen. is surging after about 2-3 hours of running. The generator itself sounds like the RPM's remain constant, but when I go inside the bus, the DC gauges are surging...along with all the lights, roof airs, etc.

Since the problem is intermitent, it has been hard for Kubota to determine the problem.

Any ideas??

You sure you don't have a roof air that's going bad? A tough
cycling AC unit can cause the genset to dip and dive.. and it'd
probably be more apt to show, after running 3-4 hours...

Rob
My 8K was doing the same thing and it was the a/c regulator. They put on a new one made a couple of RPM adjustments and every thing is wonderfull.
It was not the engine.

My money's with Mr. Ayers, it sounds like a regulator problem.

Please post the final findings and remedy to this same thread!

Lotsa' luck!

I had the same thing and I called Dick Wright at wirco. He said to change the voltage regulator. That worked.

Hey guys, looks like it may be the regulator...good diagnosis. I finally had a guy agreee to come and look at it. He is a free-lance generator mechanic...used to own a Kubota place down South somewhere. He took one look and is coming back with a new regulator. $300, and we should be set. I'll keep you posted if it's something else. Thanks

FYI - it was the regulator. Got it done this weekend, and it's running like a champ.

Rob glad you got your generator straightened out but I have a off topic question for you. One you have a nice loking xl prevost and was wondering if you did the conversion or was it already done when you got it? I looked hard at one just like that, same color and all but chose the one I have now. Is there any way you can send me some inside pics of it? I could tell if it's the same bus from that!

Again, if it is or isn't, it's a good looking coach!

No I looked up the old pictures of the coach we were looking at buying and it's different!

Here's the one I was looking at!
