There are 3 pump configurations Walking, Running, and Standing. This description refers to how the inlets and outlets are positioned.

ALSO there are two different impellers, one is for STANDARD capacity and one is for HIGH capacity.

I agree with Dale as I went thru that with mine although, I had a choice of two, standing or running. Never heard of walking! In fact I never heard of standard or high capacity. I wasn't given the choice. The price I got was a round 100 bucks if I remember correctly!

Adding to Dale's post

Be careful if you think you can cure a overheating problem by going to the high capacity impeller. If the system as a whole is marginal, the high capacity impeller could worsen the problem by increasing aeration.

In some installations, even if the system is up to snuff, switching to a high capacity impeller can still cause problems.

Thanks, Marc.

I should have said that. I was on my way out and was running behind, like always.

MAKE SURE your engine application requires the "High" capacity pump. This can be accomplished by talking with a Detroit Diesel dealer or the bus manufacturer.

In short, too much pump = too much bubbles. This my help. www.bepco.biz/ Then click on catalogs, then waterpumps, then Detroit Diesel.
