Hi folks,

You will notice that I have pruned the bbs so that there are fewer topics (as suggested by Fast Fred at this bbs' inception!). You may have noticed in the Archive that all messages from all topics have been combined into a monthly folder.

I have performed another archive up until November 8, 2001 and grouped all remaining messages into "THE BOARD". From now on, if you have a thought you'd like to share with us, please feel free to use THE BOARD, whether you're new, a wannabe, own a GMC, Prevost, Crown, etc. All your input can now be left on the one bbs.

I further agree with Fast Fred that the previous fragmented boards were sometimes difficult to navigate. As well, some viewers felt it was necessary to leave the same message on several boards. Hopefully, we will avoid that minor annoyance!

Meantime, I have read with some interest and concurrance on another bbs that an interactive campground guide with a picture portfolio might be useful to conversion hobby enthusiasts and others.

I have attempted to put something meaningful together in the BNO BBS section called, "Places We Stay". I have delineated the categories into United States, Canada and Places to Avoid. I have also left some instructions which I hope are thorough enough to be understood.

Please feel free to take a look at how it's coming along. It is at this moment, incomplete and inoperable, but I hope to have it up and running soon. Your suggestions, as usual, are always welcome.

The format will be exactly as the other sections of the bbs (with the exception of the Archives), so anyone will be able to give a thorough review of their favorite campground without limitation and with the ability to include pictures. It will also be fully searchable as is the rest of the bbs.

We will need to work together on each submission to tweak it and to get the pictures just right, but I think I will have the time if you are patient with me, as you have always been.

So, stay tuned in the next couple of days for the fully functional new section, "Places We Stay" and get ready to tell us about the places you stay!

Thank you for your continued support of BNO.

Warmest regards,

Ian Giffin

I@n, one of the biggest helps you could provide would be to insert a link on each board to your other boards. It is very inconvenient (to say the least) to go hunting for the other sections of your board.
A link to the MAK board and Jerry's board would also be helpful. LOL

Hi DML,

You're kidding about the links to my other boards, right?

BTW, there are references, including links to the friendly competition, on this bbs.

I defy you to find a single reference to BNO on either
http://www.busconversions.com/newsboard/ or
http://www.the-russells.com/cgi-bin/webbbs_config.pl

Ian

Correct, I was just kidding, but WHERE are the links from this board to your other areas? Please make it easy for us neophites to find the rest of your excellent boards. I assure I will go to them more often than I do now.

Hi again, DML,

Wow, are you ever quick to respond!!
Can't you see I'm trying to get some work done around here? :-)

Ok, here's the skinny on navigation...

Top left corner of the left frame - click "Topics". That will return the 4 bulletin boards in the right frame. Click on any of the boards and the whole discussion forum is presented to you on one page. Pick a subject to read and add your comments, if you'd like!

3 of 4 of the bulletin boards are interactive, meaning you can input your comments. Each board has a brief explanation as to its purpose. This is not to say that you can't revive an old topic which you have read in the archives - see the "Batteries revisited, revisited" thread, for example.

All areas of the bbs are searchable by topic, keyword, author, etc. Example: want to see all 220 threads that Fast Fred has contributed to? Click "Keyword Search" in the left frame, then enter "Fast Fred" in the "Search For" field and select "Look in Names of Authors". Also searchable are the recent posts. Click on Last Day and Last Week in the left frame to catch up on what you've missed.

If you have subscribed to the bbs, you can use the "New Messages" and see only the messages that have arrived since your last visit. You can also configure your profile to send yourself an e-mail for each entry to the bbs. Each e-mail has a direct link to the topic on the bbs.

When you're done with the bbs, you can go anywhere else at BNO's 400+ page web site, including our new web-based e-mail reader, the BNO MailBox, by clicking the "Return to BNO's Home Page" link at the top of the Topics frame. Our home page is the launching pad to everywhere else on the site, including DieselChat, Articles of Interest, Conversions in Progress, Buses For Sale, our secure BNO Store, you can read the entire text of Dave Galey's The Bus Converter's Bible, Arnie's Articles, The Bus Stops Here picturebook, and visit the web sites of any of our advertisers.

Hope this helps, Richard! Thanks for your participation. If there's anything else that I can assist you with, you have only to ask.

Regards,

Ian

Great work Ian, fractured boards stink, all us nuts share the same problems in converting ,
it's only in fixing the coach is there much difference.

And even then, since so much running gear is the same , sharing solutions makes sense.

If your sense of humor can take another request,

put the "Create a message" box
someplace besides the bottom of the index page,
that a lot of folks never find.

I think that is the main reason some folks don't start a new string , and some get pretty far from the orig topic.

Your's is still the best
and the ONLY classy operation on the web!

Hi Fred,

Aw shucks, thanks! :-)

I've changed the instructions to the top and I agree with you that it is more conspicuous.

Thanks for the tip.

Hi folks,

Ok, it's all ready to roll. Let's see if we can get any of you to write up a great review about your favorite campground (or attraction, or whatever).

Don't forget to send us pictures of the place you are reviewing. You can send them to us via e-mail at cgpix@busnut.com or at our business address:

Bus Nut Online
1111-1550 Kingston Road
Pickering, ON L1V 6W9
Canada

If you mail pictures, we can't send them back, so ensure that they are copies of your originals.

I@n, perhaps I did not make myself clear. I realize that if I go to the home page, I can find everything. However, to save time I have this as my favorite: http://www.busnut.com/bbs/messages/11/1531.html?1010516952, which opens the messages directly.
That way I can go directly to the messages without having to open the home page and then select messages or whatever the title is. I typically am not interested in seeing the home page, but occassionally I want to go to another section of the board. That was what I wanted a HOME link for. Just about every site I visit has a home page button.
In fact I sent the above address to somebody recently, and he has no idea that you have all the additional areas/boards/homepage, because there is no link to get him there.
Just trying to increase your business for you and Every keystroke counts!

PARDON MY STUPIDITY AND IGNORANCE AND LACK OF COMPUTER SKILLS

I just clicked on the main title and it took me to where I wanted to go.

I do appreciate the navigational instructions anyhow.

Now how can I delete my stupid previous posts?

For some who of you who like little computer tweaks, what I have done on this BB is to bust it out of frames and bookmark the page that lists all messages from the 'last day' So when I hit that bookmark, I get the day's bus buzz from ALL topics. In all honesty, I rarely, if ever, go to other parts of this site. (Cause Ian keeps this area running in tip-top shape!) But I'll go have a gander at the campground area now.

If anyone would like, here is the link that I keep bookmarked:

http://www.busnut.com/cgi-bin/bbs/board-newmessages.cgi?method=last&number=1&units=1440&tree=ON&where=all

You can even set it as your homepage if you want an instant update everytime you launch your browser. (Hey Don, now you know why I post so fast sometimes!)

I@N:

I hope the 'Places We Stay' section works out well. Would it be possible/feasible/practical to allow an image link on the posts? Especially on a travel-type section. Readers could see a limited sized image to 'wet their whistle.'

Have you considered keeping an eye on it to keep it focused on 'places we stay', rather than other non-related posts that'll clog things up?

I am glad you took on this latest BusNut 'places we stay' ... my plate was full. And ... by the by (although no site was specifically mentioned), we do provide a plug to BNO & BNO BBS and certainly do not consider 'ours' any sort of competition.

Take care,
Jerry H.

Nope. It's still a Caddy. I just put custom racing stripes and mag wheels on it!

Thanks!
