Hi I'm a new owner of a 1962 pd4106 - 1151. I'm having a problem with the previous owner in regards to a title. I'm in Massachusetts I went to the dmv and was told to have the previous owner apply for a duplicate which costs 25 bucks. Well the old owner won't return my calls now so to avoid any immediate confrontations I am going to try and get one without his help. Thanks Shaun

Did you get a bill of sale from him ?? you need to run him down & get a bill of sale with the serial number written on the same piece of paper & his signature.. not phone calls, you know where he lives

Find someone in NH to title it then sign the registration back to you. NH is a non title state. Vehicles older than 15 years only need a bill of sale and a VIN form filled out by an inspection station. MA knows that NH is a non title state and will issue a title on the NH registration. This is a common trick. I've even done it a few times for friends.

If you can't get a duplicate title, this may be your only option.

When I needed the previous owners signature (for a duplicate title for a '52 truck), I found him waiting in the glovebox (big grin). The only issue was including the middle initial as it had been on the old title. I was able to see the old signature at the DMV as the clerk was understanding as to what was going on & helpfull.

If this doesn't work, Ross has a good idea.
